In March, April and May of 2023 I completed a university project that focused on creating, designing and costuming a character who would frequent The Boar's Head Tavern, known in William Shakespeare's 1623 play 'Henry IV'. I created a character named Captain Persephone Poseith.

From the late 16th century through to the early 17th century, the Age of Sail and the Golden Age of Piracy coincided. This is where Captain Persephone Poseith ruled the seas alongside her crew aboard the Cordelia Lapis, her fantastical ship. She lives out her days on the run from authorities all over the world, being wanted dead or alive for piracy.
The Captain's first name 'Persephone' is of Greek origin, meaning 'Goddess of the Underworld'. Her surname 'Poseith' is derived from the legendary trident-bearing Poseidon, 'God of the Sea.'

I was fortunate enough to have my costume exhibited in Games: Enter the Unknown, Lincoln Museum and Usher Gallery, from July - October 2024. The exhibition explores the history of gaming, film screenings, creative workshops, industry talks and interactive activities throughout the exhibition.
